The Founders Academy Mission
“Teaching and learning at The Founders Academy will draw upon proportions of instructional time to direct teaching for the acquisition of organized knowledge, coaching for the development of intellectual skills (includes cooperative and project based learning), and Socratic seminars and Harkness Method for increased understanding of ideas and values.”  -- The Founders Academy Charter

Introduction
All Founders students participate in a Round Table character and leadership curriculum that meets for 30 minutes each day.  Building Character, Knowing our History, Honoring our Heroes, Guarding our Liberty and Exercising Leadership are among the topics addressed in Round Table.

Middle School Curriculum
Curriculum for Grades 5 - 8 follows both grade level College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS) and Founders Competencies as outlined in individual course syllabi.

Fifth grade students are instructed by two-teacher teams in a project based and interdisciplinary curriculum. The teams consist of a humanities teacher (English and History) and a STEM teacher (Science, Math and Technology). Students also are instructed in  music, art, and physical education in an integrated learning environment.

Grade 5 Science Curriculum


In Grades 6 - 8, the curriculum contains a progression of grade level standards and outcomes in the core subject areas of History, English, Math and Science which meet daily. All sixth grade students will take PE/Health. Language, Art, Tech and Band or Chorus are separate classes that meet for 1 to 5 blocks per week.

High School Curriculum

The Founders Academy high school is offering the following course by department for the 2022-2023 school year. The list of elective courses for 2022-2023 is presented below the table.

Twenty-six (26) credits are required for graduation.

Students must complete the "Senior Project" 0.5 credit course. The senior project requirement can be satisfied by an outside internship, entrepreneurship endeavor, community service involvement, work with or creation of a non-profit organization, public service, business creation, or other creative project approved by the administration.
