Here are several pictures of recent geology labs in Integrated Physical Science. In the first one, students created basic tests to learn about Earth's mantle as a flowing solid. In the second picture students explored convection, an important process in Earth's mantle as well as oceans and atmosphere (which will be brought up again later). The third and forth are from Density Challenge. Students were given four different mystery liquids of different densities and tried to find the correct order from most to least dense as quickly as possible. Density plays a role in many physical and chemical processes on Earth. Students were engaged, worked well together, and most importantly, safe in the lab!
