Dean Mooney's Closing Remarks
June 9, 2017

"First, let me make an announcement about 'Costa Rica.'  At least, I'm still glad to know that your teachers and I still make 'great impressions' on you!

Never forget that time does fly; it goes by fast.  However, think of all we've done in nine short months:  we welcomed new students, new faculty (even throughout the year), had two Drama productions, chorus and music concerts, completed mid-terms and finals as well as enriching projects, trips to Europe, New York City,  Great East Festival, Concord to sing and testify in front of the legislature, assemblies, hosted special guests including Governor and First Lady Sununu and a First Daughter of the United States, Ivanka Trump.

I'm proud of what students have accomplished this year including: upholding our Code of Conduct, STEM Fair projects, painting our school store in a cafe fashion, hospitality to guests, PSATs for more senior students, Poetry Outloud Competition, Spring Fling, Field Day, student government, Shark Tank, mock trials, and other great feats.   I'm proud of what administration and faculty has accomplished as a school this year too.  Departments working together, curriculum expanding into higher levels, dual credit and AP courses for next year, hosting Best Practices Conference, and faculty helping faculty.

You were introduced to the 'look back' and now I'm going to introduce you to the 'step up.'   Don't wait for an invitation or someone to ask, just 'step up' and be helpful as is in our Code of Conduct.  Whenever there is someone in need or a piece of trash on the floor, 'step up' on your own to assist others and to make our school look nice.

- Remember this summer to do your summer assignments.   Don't get rusty in your studies.

- For those of you with summer jobs, remember you represent all of Founders to your superiors and co-workers.

-  And, always, be kind to one another whether in person, online social media, through text or phone calling.  There is a quotation that says, 'The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching.'  Remember that everyone in this room is capable of treating others with respect, politeness, and honesty whether at school or elsewhere.  Let those on the outside recognize Founders' students by their character.  Let's never fall short in those areas.

- Next, let's thank our Department Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers for making this year so special!

- Lastly, let's close this year but look forward to next year with great joy where we'll welcome new students, new teachers and a new Director of Faculty.

And, I now declare that classes are in recess until September 5, 2017 at 7:45AM. Have a great and safe summer, and we'll see you soon!"
