Mr. Waterbury
December Teacher of the Month - 2015
Mr. Waterbury lives in Center Harbor, NH, where he has a large family: a wife and 9 children, 8 boys and a little baby girl, who just turned one. Despite the long drive and the large family, or maybe because of them, Mr. Waterbury arrives early to school each day with a big smile.
Mr. Waterbury likes Founders because of its mission - preserving liberty - and its students, whom he says are respectful, attentive and outspoken.
The history classes he teaches offer interesting projects to help students get an idea of the periods they are studying. For instance, 6th graders are creating their own settlement in conjunction with the early history that they are learning. So they have created an agricultural society with division of labor, an economy, and a system of law. Then they compare their own creation to what actually happened in recorded history. And they find that their solutions are quite similar to the historical ones.
