Teacher of the Month - February, 2016
Ms. Joelle Henry
By Madeleine G.
Ms. Henry is this month's teacher of the month because she has dedicated a lot to this school. She started to have an interest in math when she was in junior high school. She was interested in spiral patterns in nature and realized math could explain it.
Ms. Henry graduated second in her class and went to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on a four year Air Force ROTC scholarship, where she got her Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and graduated with honors. While in school, she worked on an experiment that was launched on the NASA space shuttle. In her first job, she received a patent for work on software that allowed two way radios used by emergency personnel to interact with the phone system (this was before cell phones).
Ms. Henry has 5 children and 3 stepchildren and has been teaching, and homeschooling them for the past 18 years. She decided to be a teacher because she knew she liked it from those years of homeschooling.
Ms. Henry always loved the idea of leadership and that is why she loves this school. She was class president, National Honor Society president, a state student council rep. and was chosen to participate in the United States Youth Senate.
Ms. Henry is now a teacher that many students look up too. She leads the Math Club and is passionate about what she does.
