Veteran's Day Assembly 2019

Veteran's Day Assembly 2019
Posted on 11/18/2019
Veteran's Day 2019On Wednesday, November 13th, we held our 6th annual Veterans Day Assembly. This one was special because two seniors, Allison O. and Emily A., started this assembly years ago and now they are graduating.

Students with Veterans in their family were able to invite them to come to the school, and we had our best turn-out yet! Students also brought in memorabilia to be displayed during the assembly.

After the complimentary breakfast, the program started with remarks from the Dean, then proceeded to the Pledge and National Anthem, sung by junior Alexandra M. In what is fast becoming a tradition, one of our Veteran guests sang “God Bless the USA.”

We had two Veteran speakers this year: first a grandfather of one of our students, then Mr. Dupont, a new teacher this year who served in Iraq. You can read Mr. Dupont's speech here.

In what was also a new experience, we live-casted from the Lower Cafe to the Upper Cafe where the 6th and 7th graders were able to participate.

Also, we mentioned our two Veteran Founders' alumni - David Gandia (USAF) and Jon Goncalo (USMC). Both are members of the Class of 2019.
